For how simple the Rubiks cube looks, in reality it is one of the most complex puzzles ever created. But who was responsible for this monstrosity? Erno Rubik. I feel that Erno Rubik is notable because he invented something that for most "speed cubers", it is a fun hobby that you can learn to solve in under 1 minutes, but for others, it has changed and helped their lives. 

 

I have chosen Erno Rubik as my notable because thousands of people like me have fallen in love with this sport and can't go 24 hours without turning the puzzle. But that is because of the new revolutionary models that have entered the market. When the Rubiks Cube first was available, it was clunky and stiff and took many generations to become good. 

 

Why did Erno Rubik invent the Rubiks Cube though. He didn’t intend for it to be one of the best-selling toys in the world. Erno was born in 1944 and in 1971, he was an Architecture Professor at the Budapest College of Applied Arts. Fast forward to 1974, Rubik was trying to teach his class how to solve 3D problems. Then he tried to create an object to teach the students how to solve 3D problems. Little did he know that he had just made the first prototype of the Rubiks Cube. 

 

The first prototype of the Rubiks Cube was made of wood and elastic bands. He then designed a way for the pieces to hold each other in place. It took Rubik an entire month to solve his own invention. In 1977, it was being sold in Hungry as “Buvös Kocka,” or “Magic Cube. In 1980, Rubik patented the Rubik's cube design to Ideal Toy Company and made its international debut in toy fairs across the world. 

 

Erno Rubik has two children, one named Erno .Jnr and has been married twice. His father was also named Erno Rubik, who was a flight engineer and his mother, Magdolna Szántó, was a poet. 

 

Rubik was born in 1944, during World War II in Budapest, Kingdom of Hungary and till this day, he still lives in Hungary. Rubik's Birthday is on the 13th of July and the Rubiks Cube World Championship is always during Erno Rubik's birthday. There has been ten official World Championship's, the first one being in 1982 in Budapest, Hungary. There were only 19 people that competed in the one event. The most recent World Championship was in Melbourne, Australia 2019, and there was 18 events held. The World Championships is where the world's best, and also amateur cubers meet up and compete. The best of the best can solve a 3x3 in under 5 seconds! The world record is held by Chinese cuber Yusheng Du, and the last World Champion in the 3x3 event was Phillip Weyer from Germany. 

 

Erno Rubik was remarkably notable because his invention has helped people emotionally and physically. There are cube store, for example, the biggest cube retailer in the world: The Cubicle and helped possibly the fastest cuber in the world Max park. He is an autistic person and if the Rubik's cube didn’t exist, he would be like and other person with autism, but when he is in a competition, it improves his fine motor skills and his social interactions, which for a person with autism, it is almost impossible.  

 

Erno Rubik was remarkably notable because his invention has helped people emotionally and physically. There are cube store, for example, the biggest cube retailer in the world: The Cubicle where people work and make money. And there are sponsorships where the company will pay for the cubers competition and how they travel to the event. 

 

Erno Rubik has impacted the modern society by inventing a puzzle that has been loved and cherished by thousands of people. The puzzle can help you get though some tough moments in the real world and can help with other hobbies, such as remembering what you were doing, playing a musical instrument and even learning how to ride a bike. Without the Rubiks Cube, all the entrepreneurs that have started retailers would not have a job and the kids that have taken this hobby into their life will have to find new hobbies that might not be as good as cubing. The Rubiks Cube has turned into a sport, and the community it gives, is one of the most unique communities there is.
